Bad Blogger

So today I checked on my blog and discovered I have 22 followers! Wow, when did that happen? I have been a bad blogger in  not thanking these followers for visiting my blog and joining in to follow my little posts. So here goes a big THANK YOU to:

Sangeetha (Crochetkari), Begonvilli Ev, Annie (Knitsofacto), http://sbmillefeuilles.blogspot.com/Anne (Marmalade and Catmint), Sue (Ms. Micawber), Heather (The Good Life), Ada (Vintage Sheet Addict), Kris (Simplify), Blueberry HeartMel (Coal Valley View), Teresa (Teresa Kasner), Gracie (One Saylor's Long), Suzy (Rustic Vintage Country), Tracy (Depth of Field) and Sarah (Duck and Egg).

Well, that will teach me to pay more attention. *smile* Anyway, thanks to all of you who have joined as followers. I am trying to follow your blogs as well. And thank you to all who comment on my posts. You make me almost feel like a real life blogger!

No pictures today as I am still working on Jellybean's blanket. I have started the second round of colors; actually almost finished the second round. When I start the 3rd one, I'll post a picture. I'm going to need some help on the edging. I'm in a quandary as to what color to use. I know what stitch I'm going to use but with all these bright colors, I'm not sure what will look good. Definitely NOT white, I don't think that will work at all.

As always, thanks for dropping by. I hope you have a great day wherever you might be.

Hugs,
Sharon

Sunflowers

I had been hearing for a while about a patch of sunflowers near me. On Facebook, a lot of people were talking about them and how pretty they were. So yesterday I decided to go see for myself.

The flowers were about 20 miles west of me and I went with the single purpose of seeing them. (Sorry, Sam, I didn't do the 3 trips things yesterday). I drove watching both sides of the road hoping I wouldn't miss them. And topping a hill, there they were. There was no way to miss them, they were bright, bright yellow and standing proudly right beside the road.

If that isn't a taste of sunshine, I don't know what is. Their yellow flowers and green stalks and leaves against the blue September sky......AH, lovely.

I wasn't the only one stopping to take pictures. Apparently the word has gotten around to many people. There were several cars slowing down to take a look and several more stopping for pictures. With smiles on their faces, men and women got out of their cars and walked around snapping pics. How can you not smile when faced with all this sunshiny happiness?

I like how the old barn looks as a backdrop to the sunflowers. Oh my what a lovely day I had yesterday. It was a perfect cure for the "out of sorts" feeling I had a few days earlier. And finally a photo for Sue at http://mrsmicawber.blogspot.com/.

I hope you like it.

As always, thank you for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day wherever you might be.

Out of sorts

Today has been a weird day. I woke feeling draggy; coughing, sneezing, generally out of sorts. As the day has progressed, I'm not feeling much better except the coughing and sneezing are gone. I decided I needed some Vitamin D so I went outside to the patio for some sunshine and fresh air. We live in a pretty quiet neighborhood except for the lady 2 doors down who likes to play her music at earsplitting volume. Oh well, to each his own.

I decided a tour of my yard would be appropriate for today's post. It's amazing what you see when you just stroll around and take random shots. I hope you enjoy.

The magnolia tree is seeding and I love the huge pods with the red berry thingies sticking out. I know, not very scientific but then I call my magnolia, "Maggie May" so what can you expect? *smile*

The SLOW picture is from the street in front of my house, a warning for drivers that we have kids in the neighborhood. It also serves as a reminder to me to enjoy life.

Bandit had to get in at least one picture. This is some type of begonia, I'm not sure what kind. It comes back every year and has been in front of the heat pump unit for several years. It must like it there.

The last two pictures are of some sedum in pots on the patio. I love sedum. I love the texture, the softness and the fact that even I can't kill it! At one time we had pots all along the rock wall full of flowers, sedum, etc and it was so lovely. I spent a lot of time out there, pulling weeds and watering. I want to get that back. Hopefully next spring will see a return of the patio garden with maybe some herbs thrown in. How lovely would that be?

As always, thanks for stopping by. I hope each of you has a lovely day wherever you might be.

Hugs,
Sharon

Autumn Swap and other things

Finally. It's in the mail, winging its way to Amanda way other there in Spain. I was so excited today. Since I've never mailed a package internationally, the post office guy helped me through everything. He had my package while I filed out the address slip and other papers. He stamped and stamped and stamped and stamped. Finally, I looked up and asked why all the stamps? It's to make sure it isn't tampered with apparently. How curious.

Anyway, my first swap has been a lot of fun and I certainly hope Amanda enjoys it. I'm eagerly awaiting my package from her since she got hers in the mail on Saturday. Wow, this is going to be so much fun.

This past weekend, I kept my daughter's dog while she and the son-in-law had a weekend trip to Asheville, NC. Daisy is a sweetheart of a dog, part lab/part beagle; energetic, loving and goofy. But this weekend was different. She seemed to miss Abby so much more than any time before. This Asheville trip is one they've done each year for 2 or 3 years and each time before, Daisy has been happy and playful while they were gone. All she did this time was mope around and lie in her crate.

And our dog, Bandit, didn't help matters. He was such a bully. He stole her treats, splashed all the water out of the water dish, and just was a brat in general. She was so happy on Monday when they got here to pick her up.

Sunday was the Hubbs birthday. It was a quiet day. He's not much into celebrations and we don't usually mark our birthdays. He did ask me how old he was! Bless his heart, you would think he is ancient but actually, he's only 59. I'm older by 2 years.

We will be celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary in October. This is amazing to me. We've been married over half our lives. We are settled and comfortable and I can't imagine life without him. I have a special treat coming from Fee at http://chippernelly.blogspot.co.uk/ and I'm really excited about that. I'll show you when it gets here.

The weather has changed. It is cooler. Yesterday and today, we have had rain and I've not as many windows open. I love the fall when I can open the windows and let the fresh air in. I sleep so much better at night and love hearing the night sounds. It's 71 degrees F here today and feels cooler because of the rain. Soon it will be time for sweat pants and sweaters and socks. Hmmmm, wonder if I can crochet some socks?? Another project, maybe.

I am back to work on the baby blanket for Jellybean. The baby is growing and already starting to be active. Abby sent me this sonogram last week:

I am so excited. They don't want to know what the sex is and I respect that. Either way, it will be grand. This is our fourth grandchild. I really didn't think I would ever have any at all. Isn't Jellybean beautiful?

As always, thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day wherever you might be.

Hugs,
Sharon

Autumn Swap

Being a new blogger, I had never even heard of a swap, much less participated in one. When I started following other posts, I got inspiration from their favorites and soon had a great list of blogs to follow.

In August, I found this lovely blog. One of the first things I found on her blog was a post about swaps. Blueberry had hosted one previously and had decided to host another with 2 themes, Cosy Autumn and Halloween. I adore Autumn. It is my favorite time of year. I love the colors and the bright blue skies and the warm days and cool nights. I love living in the SE in the United States where I am close to one of the most visited national parks, The Great Smoky Mountains. So of course, I chose Cosy Autumn.

I left my choice in the comments stating that I did not mind shipping international and waited to see who I was matched up with. Surprise and joy! Amanda at Crafty in the Med was my swap partner. Amanda was one of the first people to read my blog and has given me such lovely comments and help along the way. I was so, so pleased to be her partner.

I am slowly getting my things together, finished one project and working steadily on another. I came home from visiting my grandchildren over the Labor Day weekend with a nasty virus that put me in bed for 3 days and left me sapped of energy. Amanda and I have communicated by email and things are going to work out. She is such a sweet and kind person.

Anyway, being my first swap, it has been such fun putting things together and I so hope Amanda enjoys the items I will send her.

So that's all for now. Sorry, no pictures as I don't want to give anything away.

As always, thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day wherever you might be.

Little bodies, big love

Grandchildren. Who knew that a simple, "I love you, Grammy", could melt my heart and make it bigger at the same time. Those words, those kisses, those smiles; they all crawl into my heart and find all the hidden places and make themselves at home. I never knew my heart could expand this much and still have room.

I spent Labor Day weekend with the most precious little creatures in my world.

Left to right: Lilly, Elijah and Ella. Those smiles say it all. Lilly is the mischievous one, Elijah is the sweet baby and Ella is all sweetness and drama. It's really hard not to go overboard talking about them.

It is enough to say that they are my love, my life and my joy. And, in January, there will be another one to crawl into my heart and make me smile. Four grandchildren!  I am blessed beyond belief.
