I have 3 grandchildren who live in Georgia. It's roughly 3-4 hours away and I don't get down there as much as I would like. I miss these little guys so much. Ella is 3, Lilly is 20 months and Elijah is 6 months. I haven't been down since the end of May and I'm getting so needy for small arm hugs and small mouth kisses.
This past Wednesday, my son called to see if I wanted to do a little skyping. You have to ask????? Of course, Grammy is always ready to skype. I ran to my laptop and got settled and waited for the bom-de-boo of the skype call.
Oh what joy to see those smiling faces. I am so in love with these small creatures. They make my heart sing. My son has bought a tablet to do the viewing on because the girls are never still. Ella was so excited about seeing Grammy. Lilly was right up in the camera and so cute. I asked her to say hi, Grammy, and SHE DID! She hasn't said Grammy before and oh, talk about excited. She is the stinker of the group, always into something. Ella told me about her first day of preschool and how much she liked it and then did a few bounces on her trampoline for me with a great dismount. I applauded and gave her a 10!
Lilly was wearing her favorite play necklace and I commented on how pretty she looked in her necklace so she tried to put it on me! She tried so hard to get that necklace on me on the tablet. It was just so cute.
Then we had to go on a tour of the house. So funny. I got to see Ella's new bed and Eli's and Lilly's room, but Dad called a halt to view Mom and Dad's room.
Bedtime called so the girls came to tell me good night and blow me kisses. Ella is so sweet, she always says, "nite nite Grammy, I love you". Lilly just wanted to give me a hug. She hugged the tablet so hard she grunted, then gave me the sweetest smile and said, "love you".
Ah, grandchildren. If you don't have grandchildren, there is no describing the joy and the heart filling love you get from them. I am so lucky that these 3 small beings are in my life. It is such a joy each time one of them says, "love you". Oooh, my heart will swell and a huge smile comes on my face.
And there will be another addition in January. My daughter, who lives in Tennessee but almost the same distance away from me, is having a baby. I'm one thrilled and lucky Grammy. Life couldn't be sweeter.
What fun and what joy. Grandchildren are such a blessing.
ReplyDeleteYes, Ellen, they certainly are. :D
DeleteAmazing the joys of modern technology!
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for it. If we didn't have it, these little guys would grow up even faster because I wouldn't get to see them often. Thanks Anne.
DeleteWe use Skype also, it's a great way to stay in touch. My mom is in NC and we are in OH, so it works great for in between visits. Have a great weekend and congratulations on the upcoming addition! Heather
ReplyDeleteWow, I don't know how I would handle that distance. It is a wonderful creation and lets us Grammies be a part of the little ones lives. Thanks for the congrats. I'm super excited.
Deletehi there! thank you so very much for joining in the swap! I hope you really enjoy it - last years was such fun!
ReplyDeleteYou've a lovely blog here!

Thank you for liking my blog. I'm so new at this, I'm never sure if what I have to say is worthwhile. I really appreciate comments like yours.
DeleteI'm really eager for the swap. This is the first time I have ever done anything like this and I am so excited. I have already gathered some things and I'm working on others.
Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.
Wow, you are one lucky grammy. Congratulations for the new addition. My son is now 19 so I am looking forward to grankids (in the future)!! Why already? Because I never got to make any handmade goodies for him as I was working full time. I hope to make and keep lots of things for my grandkids... ha ha. Unlike the Famous sweater I was knitting for my son......which never got made as he grew faster than my knitting!!:)
ReplyDeleteI have never tried Skype, so something new to learn.
Love.
Yes, I am lucky. Grandkids are so special. It's unbelievable how much love your heart can hold.
DeletePlease so try the Skype. It is really a lot of fun and lets me stay connected. I've already told my daughter she has to have it by the time the baby gets here! LOL
Thanks for stopping by, Sangeetha.
Technology can be great at times like these, I know it's not as good as the real life version but at least you get to talk to them and see them growing up! Ada :)
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon! I have been wanting to come say hello and introduce myself. I saw that you visited my blog, but I have been away on a little girl time, and when I got home, I had a computer problem with my charging cord. Now I am on my husband's Mac to do some blog catch up, and didn't want to wait any longer to say hello. Thank you for coming to visit me. I have read back on your blog and see that we have quite a lot in common. I too have three grands!!! Two are 5 and one is 3. I see you have a daughter in Tennessee, and she is expecting too....how exciting! Our youngest, son Drew, has recently informed us he is moving to Nashville to pursue his dream of music. He is crazy talented, and I know he can get work, but the thought of him going so far away, alone, and having it not work out the way he is hoping, is killing me. Not to mention the fact that I can't stand the thought of him being so far from us. We have always been close, the whole group of us, and this is going to be very hard.
ReplyDeleteSo I am staying as busy as I can!!!
Love your bobble. How is it coming along? I finished one a few months back, and SO loved that afghan!!!
I will be back!!!!!
Hugs,
Kris
Hi Sharon,
ReplyDeleteThanks for you kind comment. I know Drew will be okay. But I worry, nonetheless!! It is what we Mothers do, right?
Still hot where you are too huh?
I do actually cook a lot. In fact, I love to cook. But in this summer heat, I have not wanted to turn my oven on, or stand over a hot stove. So we have been having sandwiches and cold pasta salads and such. We are surviving, but I am missing my cooking!
Hugs,
Kris
What a lovely post. And what fabulous grand kids. Thank goodness for the marvels of Skype!
ReplyDeleteI'm quite looking forward to grand babies arriving. My eldest two are settled with permanent partners now, but no idea how long I'll have to wait!
