Playing with the blog setup

So today I have been playing around with my blog setup. I have added a follower gadget and some of the blogs I follow. I've also added a photo in my header. I don't know if I'm happy with it but I can always change it, right?

Today has been one of the days when you want so much to do so many things but your body says, "I don't think so!". My body and I are constantly in a battle as to what I want to do and what I can do. I had big plans for the day including clearing out some the clutter (mess!) in my office and packing away some files. I was also going to do some crocheting and start charting on a baby sampler for my grandson. However, my body has other ideas. My hands don't want to do much; it is even hurting to type and therefore, crocheting or charting is out the window. Clearing the clutter will have to wait for another day. *sigh* When I was younger and in better health, I would have thoroughly enjoyed a do-nothing day. But as I've gotten older and my health has gone downhill, I realize what a precious gift good health is. Life often doesn't go as we plan but I am thankful I can still get up and move.

So moving on...have I told you I am going to be a grandmother for the fourth time? My lovely daughter is pregnant with her first and I'm soooo excited. There is just something so special about sharing your daughter's pregnancy. We have had our ups and downs in the past but I can truthfully say that we are very close now and this special time in her life is only bringing us closer. She is 13 weeks along with "Jellybean" and I get more excited every day. At this rate, I will be bouncing off the walls in January!

Again, thank you for visiting my blog. If you have suggestions, please feel free to offer them. I'm so very new at this, I'm not sure I know what I'm doing. I love to read your comments just as I love reading your blogs. Have a happy day wherever you are.

Sharon

  3. Amen Sister! Your body and mine and yes....it's a good thing I'm retired because I can't even keep my house clean much less work full-time? A few years, a few illnesses and here I am....a slug! LOL! But we're blessed regardless...it could always be worse!
Congrats on your coming grandmahood to the 4th level.

  4. Hi Sharon, welcome to the blog world. I saw your comment over at Sam's place so decided to drop in and say hello. My uncle has the same kinda swing on his front porch in OH -- when I visit, I love sitting there watching the world go by. Of course, he lives in a small town, so there's hardly any real action going on. :)

What were your symptoms before you were diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis? Every day when I wake up, the bones in some of my fingers just ache -- even though I know I have done anything. Of course, my thumb on my left hand I can understand as the joint there has been damaged a couple of times from falls. But the other ones, I don't quite get. Today it was my middle finger on my right hand. When I stretch my hands out, I can feel the pain in those bones. I just wonder what could be causing it all of a sudden. I have been crocheting and cross-stitching a lot since I'm on summer holiday. I hope you will post some things you have done or are working on.

Congrats on your newest little "jellybean" to be. Wishing you a wonderful day. Tammy

    1. Tammy, thanks for dropping by and giving such kind words of encouragement. concerning the RA, I started with knee problems and shoulder problems. After 2 rotator cuff surgeries and a knee replacement, I noticed that my hands were sometimes swelling and were very painful to move. Unfortunately, my RA wasn't caught early enough and I already have damage to my right wrist to the point that it won't bend. I have had 2 additional knee replacements (1 a full replacement and the other a repair of that replacement). My advice to you is if you are experiencing this pain, get your doctor to refer you to a rheumatologist. There are a series of tests that have to be done which basically rule out everything else. RA doesn't have a definitive test other than the RA factor in blood work and the SED rate which is a measure of inflammation. Always trust your body and what it is telling you. Again thanks for dropping by.

  5. Hello Sharon, Thanks for stopping by. Welcome to Blogland. I am a new blogger too, just 3 months into it, but I am really enjoying myself and I know you will too. I have come across so many beautiful people that I feel sad I did not start my blog earlier. Your swing on the porch gives a warm feeling, as if we are sitting on the swing together and chatting. I am so glad you like my crochet. My inspiration for blogging was Lucy from Attic24 and her beautiful crochet. You are becoming a Grandma for the fourth time.....Great!! My best wishes to your daughter. Do share pics of the baby. I am hoping to make lots of crocheted goodies for my grandchildren. (My son is only 19...LOL). I was diagnosed with cervical spondylosis 12 years back. So I do the housework on my "good days" and I have stopped feeling apologetic about not getting everything done. Of course I crochet on ALL the days...ha ha... inspite of my doctor forbidding me! Crochet makes me happy and of course keeps me sane. Let us keep in touch and enjoy this journey thru Blogdom together.
    Lots of love
