Out of sorts

Today has been a weird day. I woke feeling draggy; coughing, sneezing, generally out of sorts. As the day has progressed, I'm not feeling much better except the coughing and sneezing are gone. I decided I needed some Vitamin D so I went outside to the patio for some sunshine and fresh air. We live in a pretty quiet neighborhood except for the lady 2 doors down who likes to play her music at earsplitting volume. Oh well, to each his own.

I decided a tour of my yard would be appropriate for today's post. It's amazing what you see when you just stroll around and take random shots. I hope you enjoy.

The magnolia tree is seeding and I love the huge pods with the red berry thingies sticking out. I know, not very scientific but then I call my magnolia, "Maggie May" so what can you expect? *smile*

The SLOW picture is from the street in front of my house, a warning for drivers that we have kids in the neighborhood. It also serves as a reminder to me to enjoy life.

Bandit had to get in at least one picture. This is some type of begonia, I'm not sure what kind. It comes back every year and has been in front of the heat pump unit for several years. It must like it there.

The last two pictures are of some sedum in pots on the patio. I love sedum. I love the texture, the softness and the fact that even I can't kill it! At one time we had pots all along the rock wall full of flowers, sedum, etc and it was so lovely. I spent a lot of time out there, pulling weeds and watering. I want to get that back. Hopefully next spring will see a return of the patio garden with maybe some herbs thrown in. How lovely would that be?

As always, thanks for stopping by. I hope each of you has a lovely day wherever you might be.

Hugs,
Sharon

  1. Oh my goodness, I haven't seen magnolia seeding since I lived in California! I remember loving the seeds as a kid - we used to play with them.

I like the birdhouse and all the stone. Hope you're feeling better now. :)

    1. thank you, I'm feeling much better today. I think I'm dealing with allergies, something I don't normally have. But today has been a great day!

This is the first time I've noticed the red seeds on the pods. I'm guessing they do that every year but I haven't been as observant very now.

  2. Hi Sharon! I'm so sorry you're feeling icky....that's no fun! There's a bunch of flu going around...a little early I'd think. Hope it leaves you soon. I've never seen those magnolia seeds and my neighbor has several trees. I need to take a look...they're cool!
I love your stone wall and your nice garden area. You didn't miss anything this Summer. You would have been out there watering every 2 minutes it was so hot. Hopefully next year will be better for you and the plants.
It's almost 9 p.m. so I better get to bed....I'm tired out! Good to see you and your blog are doing so well!!! Congrats....just get to feeling better now!

    1. Sam, I am feeling much better now. I think I am dealing with allergies, something I haven't had a problem with before but all the signs are there. Thank you for the compliments and you are right, plants wouldn't have made it this year. Hoping next year will find me in good health and eager to work on the patio. I still think you need to bottle some of your energy and send it my way!
